LIFT Privacy Policy
Last updated: 26 October 2026
LIFT is operated by Wilson Symonds in Australia. Contact: wilsonsymonds111@gmail.com.
This notice explains what LIFT collects, why it uses it, who can see it, and how a user can access, correct, or delete it. It adapts the Termly notice supplied for LIFT to the features LIFT actually offers.
Key points: LIFT uses data to run the app and features a user chooses. Some workout and body results are visible to other members as described below. LIFT does not sell data or run targeted ads. Users can export data or delete their account in Profile.
Information LIFT handles
If you link Apple Health activity sync, LIFT reads the steps, heart rate and activity rings you choose to allow. These values stay in memory on your phone. They are not saved in LIFT backups, sent to friends, or sent to a server. LIFT stores only your choice to link for your account on this phone. Turn sync off in LIFT to clear that choice, or change read access in the Health app.
If you link MyFitnessPal, LIFT reads its calories, protein, carbs and fat from Apple Health. LIFT does not ask for your MyFitnessPal password. Linking food in a signed-in account also links friend sharing. LIFT sends daily food totals, your LIFT food and weight goals, date and time zone to its Firebase service. LIFT members can open your public workout and body-weight profile; only accepted friends can see your linked food totals in shared chats and food views. New food totals send a message and alert to those friends. Food names are not sent. The first read sets a starting point and does not post old meals. Health sync and alerts can be late. Guests can read food on their phone without sharing. Private totals are kept for up to 35 days, plus the time needed for the next cleanup. Shared messages follow the chat retention rules below. You can disconnect in Food settings and stop Health access in iPhone settings. If you are offline, LIFT stops phone sync and retries the server stop when you are online. No Apple Health data is used for ads or sold. When linked food updates are copied into the private Danny AI coach chat, recent coach activity can be sent to OpenAI when you message Danny so he can answer with context. Deleting your LIFT account removes the sync link and private food totals.
If you use the DEXA finder, LIFT asks for location access. Your coordinates are used on the phone to find and sort nearby providers. LIFT sends your locality, city, region, country, and postal code, if available, to its Firebase search service. It does not send your coordinates to that service. Opening a result in Apple Maps shares the map request with Apple.
LIFT may handle:
- workouts, exercises, sets, repetitions, weights, rest times, notes, personal records, schedules, and body-weight entries;
- a profile photo selected by the user;
- a random Firebase user identifier and, if the user chooses to link an account, the Apple or Google account identifier, email address, or username needed for the sign-in method they choose. Older accounts may also have a phone number from past text-message sign-in;
- basic technical information needed for authentication, cloud backup, security, updates, and crash diagnosis.
- messages that a user chooses to send in LIFT's private support conversation.
- messages in a user's AI coach chat, including automatic workout, legacy sauna and linked-food summaries and Danny's replies, saved so the user can see the full chat again;
- friend requests, friend and group-chat membership, messages, workout summaries, photos, and voice notes that a user chooses to share with other LIFT members;
- for the ambassador program, a member's invite code and, when a new member enters a friend's invite code, which member invited them, their profile name, and the App Store product and transaction IDs of their LIFT subscription, used only to credit and pay the inviting member's revenue share;
- for linked accounts, an accountability snapshot: all LIFT members can see the active split and calendar status, personal-record progress, workout summaries, exercise-performance trends, current training Health and recovery state, and dated body-weight results; accepted friends can also see body-fat, lean-body-mass, and total-testosterone results. Original DEXA scans, bloodwork files, local file locations, and laboratory reference details are not included in this social snapshot;
- the linked account's profile name and profile photo, which are shown to other linked LIFT members in friend suggestions so they can send a friend request. The profile name also appears on Everyone PB ranks by default; a name hidden under the earlier privacy setting stays hidden. The photo is not on those ranks. Account email addresses are not shown in suggestions;
- hashed email addresses and phone numbers from the device contacts that a linked user chooses to sync, used only to find matching LIFT accounts. Raw contact names and contact details are not uploaded, and the hashes are not saved to the user's profile;
- screenshots, PDFs, or bloodwork reports that a user deliberately selects for an import feature, and the workout, body-weight, body-composition, total testosterone, white blood cell, neutrophil, and lymphocyte records extracted from those files.
LIFT does not ask for a legal name, phone number, or payment card to begin logging workouts. Email/password and username/password sign-in are also available. Firebase handles password authentication; passwords are not included in social profiles or recovery exports. Text-message sign-in is no longer offered. Apple and Google process their own login credentials. LIFT does not receive the user's Apple or Google password.
Why LIFT handles this information
The information is used only to provide LIFT: saving and restoring workouts, showing progress, synchronising a linked account, authenticating a user, providing member discovery, public workout rankings and profiles, member messaging, AI coaching, diagnosing crashes, protecting the service, and responding to support requests. LIFT does not sell personal or workout information and does not use it for third-party advertising.
Information from linked services
LIFT receives account details from Apple or Google only when a user chooses that sign-in method. If the user grants Apple Health access, LIFT reads the health information described above. LIFT also handles information the user chooses to import or share. LIFT does not offer Facebook or X sign-in. The DEXA finder uses location only as described above.
Legal reasons for processing
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, LIFT processes data to provide requested features, protect accounts and the service, meet legal duties, and respond to support requests. Optional access to Apple Health, contacts, camera, location, notifications, and linked sign-in depends on user choices. App permissions can be changed in device settings. The basis for a specific use may vary by the user's location and the feature involved.
Cookies and tracking
The legal website does not use advertising cookies, pixels, or targeted advertising. Hosting may process basic request logs needed to deliver and secure the pages. LIFT does not use location tracking for advertising. Because the site has no advertising tracker, a browser's Do Not Track setting does not change how it works.
Local storage and cloud backup
Workout information is saved in a protected database inside the app's storage on the device, with additional recovery copies. When an internet connection is available, LIFT also attempts to store the five newest dated, checksum-verified recovery copies under a random Firebase user identifier. Older recovery copies are removed after a newer copy has been safely committed.
An anonymous backup cannot reliably be recovered after the app is deleted or on a new device. To make a backup recoverable, the user must link it to an account using a supported sign-in method. Users can continue using LIFT without linking an account.
Service providers
LIFT uses:
- Google Firebase for authentication, cloud backup, social messaging, selected chat photos and voice notes, member accountability snapshots, saved AI coach chats, and private in-app support conversations;
- Expo Application Services for signed app builds and app updates;
- Apple or Google when the user chooses those login methods;
- Sentry for crash reporting when production monitoring is enabled.
- OpenAI when a user chooses Import Workouts & Data, adds a bloodwork report, uses voice workout, asks LIFT to identify a gym machine, or talks to the AI coach. The selected files, short voice recording, machine photo, recent coach messages, and recent logged activity shown in the coach chat are processed by OpenAI's API to extract records, choose the requested workout action, or answer the user. LIFT asks the API not to store the response for product training;
- Google Cloud Speech only as a backup if the main voice transcription service cannot turn a short voice recording into text.
Crash reports are configured not to include workout names, notes, weights, account identity, or other workout content.
These providers may process limited technical information under their own privacy terms. Data is transmitted using encrypted HTTPS connections.
Some providers may process information outside Australia. Processing locations depend on the service and account settings; LIFT does not claim that all data stays in one country. LIFT does not give data to advertising partners. Basic hosting logs may include an IP address and browser details needed to serve and protect the page.
Files selected for import, short voice workout recordings, and machine photos are sent through LIFT's authenticated Firebase callable over encrypted HTTPS and are not persisted in LIFT cloud backups. AI coach text is sent through the same kind of protected call. The coach chat is saved in Firebase so the user can reopen it and load older messages. OpenAI may retain API inputs and outputs for a limited period for abuse monitoring under its API data controls unless a stricter retention arrangement applies.
Retention and deletion
Local data remains until the user clears it in LIFT or removes the app. Cloud data, social content, AI coach chats, and private support messages remain until the user deletes the linked LIFT account, requests deletion, or they are removed under LIFT's retention process. Messages and workout summaries are visible only to members of the chat in which they were shared. A recipient can retain a copy or screenshot of content they received.
Public workout and body-weight snapshots are available to signed-in LIFT members. Detailed body-composition and testosterone results require an accepted friendship. Removing a friend stops those detailed results and future activity alerts. Data already seen, shared to a chat, or captured in a screenshot may still be retained by the recipient.
A linked user can delete the account, associated cloud data, social profile, chat content, selected chat photos and voice notes, AI coach chat, and private support conversation inside LIFT: Profile → Delete Account. The app also deletes local LIFT data after the cloud account deletion succeeds. A deletion request may also be made using the public account-deletion page or by emailing wilsonsymonds111@gmail.com.
Raw workout and body-composition import files are not retained by LIFT after the import request. A bloodwork original is retained only in the app's private local storage so the user can reopen it; that original is not included in LIFT cloud recovery copies. Extracted records become ordinary LIFT data and follow the same local, backup, export, and deletion rules above.
Subscriptions and the disabled draw proposal
Apple processes subscription payments; LIFT does not receive your card or bank login. The app reads Apple product prices, transaction identifiers, subscription expiry and verification/revocation state to provide and restore access. Referral records may include transaction identifiers but do not by themselves verify revenue. Deleting LIFT data does not delete Apple's financial records or cancel Apple billing.
The proposed monthly cash draw is disabled. No entries, age/residency checks or prize-payment details are collected for it in this release. Before any launch, approved rules and an updated notice must specify the minimum eligibility, payment, fraud-prevention and draw-audit data, legal basis, processors, international transfers, retention periods, winner publication and access/deletion handling. Health data, contacts and private chats must not be used to select winners. No prize-payment provider has been approved or connected.
Choices and rights
Depending on the user's location, privacy law may provide rights to access, correct, export, restrict, or delete personal information. Email the address above to exercise those rights. A user can also export a readable copy of workouts, notes, splits, and body-weight history inside LIFT from Profile, then Export & Recovery. Identity may need to be verified before a request is completed.
Users may also ask how their information is used or shared, withdraw an optional permission, or raise a privacy complaint. Rights and limits depend on the law where they live. LIFT will review requests under applicable law. Users can email the address above or use the privacy request instructions. Australian users may also contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner.
People in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Canada, New Zealand, South Africa, and some United States states may have further rights under local law, such as objecting to a use, asking for a portable copy, or appealing a decision. LIFT will assess requests under the law that applies to it. LIFT does not use solely automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Children
LIFT is not directed to children under 13. Users who are not old enough to consent under their local law should use LIFT only with a parent or guardian.
Security and changes
No system can be guaranteed completely secure. LIFT uses access controls, encrypted transport, least-privilege database rules, recovery copies, and release testing to reduce risk. Material changes to this policy will be published with a new effective date.
This notice was adapted from a Termly Privacy Policy Generator draft. Incomplete fields and claims about unused features were removed so it describes LIFT.
